Carole Groom was elected to the Board of Supervisors in June 2010 after serving nine years on the San Mateo City Council, including two terms as Mayor.

Supervisor Groom’s legislative priorities include expanded access to quality preschool and literacy, improved access to healthcare for all, environmental protection, preservation of County’s parks, and growing the local economy. In December 2012, she was appointed to the California Coastal Commission by then California State Assembly Speaker, John Perez.

Her professional experience includes 18 years as a Vice President of Mills-Peninsula Health Services. Supervisor Groom serves on the Board of Directors of the San Mateo Police Activities League and resides in the city of San Mateo.
