Amar K. Mehta serves as the Chief Legal Officer at Waymo, where he oversees legal, risk, insurance, global public policy, and government relations. His purview includes corporate financing, strategic deals, litigation, regulatory compliance, and product safety, security, and privacy. Amar leads Waymo’s industry-leading IP portfolio and first-in-kind autonomous vehicle insurance, coverage, and claims functions. He also directs global public policy teams, engaging with lawmakers and regulators to establish sensible rules for AV deployment.
Prior to Waymo, Amar spent many years at Google focusing on IP strategy and transactions. Previously, he was Chief Legal Officer at Altitude Capital Partners, a patent litigator at Fish & Richardson, and an investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston. Amar holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
