John’s career path began in the IT and accounting disciplines with Stouffer Hotels. His infatuation with solving complex puzzles set him on the hotel operations path, leading him to the General Manager position at Hotel Nikko, San Francisco, in 1997.  From there, John managed highly acclaimed properties, including The Westin St. Francis, The MGM Grand Detroit, and The Sofitel in Redwood Shores.

John served as a board member and officer of The San Francisco Peninsula from 2009 to 2019, when he became the organization’s President and CEO. He serves on the executive committee of The California Travel Association and Visit California’s DMO/CEO Council. John and his wife Lisa reside in Burlingame, where they enjoy spending time with their four grandchildren and advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities.
