Shifting Shorelines: Adapting to Climate Change on the Coast

Shifting Shorelines offers a unique opportunity to explore the impacts of climate change along our coastline and learn firsthand how local communities are responding. This half-day workshop brings together local leaders, regional experts, and on-the-ground perspectives to connect participants with both the challenges and the innovative adaptation strategies being implemented.

The day will include:

  • Insights from local leadership – Hear from Pacifica’s Mayor, Sue Beckmeyer, and Vice Mayor, Christine Boles, as they guide discussion and share how the city is addressing climate challenges.

  • Interactive beach site tours – See the effects of coastal change up close and learn from experts about local adaptation strategies.

  • Coastal perspectives – Zoom out to understand broader trends in climate adaptation on California’s coast, with insights from regional organizations.

Join us for an engaging and immersive day on the coast as we explore how climate change is shaping our shoreline—and what communities are doing to build a more resilient future.
